NBA: Bulls take top seed status




The Chicago Bulls beat the New Jersey Nets 97-92 to secure top-seed status for the NBA play-offs.
Kyle Korver led the way with 19 points for the Bulls, who then had to wait on San Antonio's result to see who would be seeded number one.
And when the Spurs lost 106-103 to the Phoenix Suns, the Bulls knew they would be beginning their play-off campaign against the Indiana Pacers.
The Miami Heat, who rested several stars including LeBron James, beat the Toronto Raptors 97-79 on the back of Eddie House's career-high 35 points.
The Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks 112-102 with both sides fielding under-strength sides, the Orlando Magic saw off the Indiana Pacers 92-74 in a match-up of two play-off bound teams and the Milwaukee Bucks were 110-106 overtime winners over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Utah Jazz ended their season on a high as Gordon Hayward's career-high 34 points lifted them to a 107-103 win over the Denver Nuggets, while the Atlanta Hawks will take a six-game losing streak into the play-offs after they were defeated 96-85 by the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Dallas Mavericks were 121-89 winners over the New Orleans Hornets, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 116-108, the Los Angeles Clippers were 110-103 victors over the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 110-86.
Elsewhere, the Detroit Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers 104-100, the Cleveland Cavaliers saw off the Washington Wizards 100-93 and the Minnesota Timberwolves lost their 15th straight game, 121-102 to the Houston Rockets, to finish the season with an NBA-worst record of 15-165.(NSPASTAR)
